Nighttime Routine

By Rosie Ali - August 29, 2018

Like every new parent and parent in general sleep is always at the top of our minds.  We wonder if our baby will sleep and we are constantly asked by any and everyone how we are sleeping.
I seem to have lucked out in the sleep department!! Ava has slept no less than 9 uninterrupted hours since 5 weeks of age!! I believe this is due to three factors:

1)her just being a good sleeper,
2)primemybody hemp oil that I take twice daily (rosieb.primemybody.com), and
3)the consistent nightly routine that we stick to everyday

Routine is extremely important for your baby. In raising Ava I vowed to myself to stay consistent & scheduled in order to help her thrive.  Her nightly routine is very simple & straightforward.  It is: bath, massage, feed, sleep. We begin this routine every night around 9:30 She typically takes a 20-30 minute bath where she kicks around & plays in the water.  She really tires herself out kicking & splashing the way she does.

After her bath I use eucerin baby eczema cream on her face & jojoba oil massaged into her scalp & hair.  She then receives a full body massage where I use young living essential oils mixed with jojoba all over her entire body especially on the bottoms of her feet & her belly. Essential oils absorb best through her feet and the tummygize digestive oil I use on her belly helps ease her little gassy tummy. I use a variety of oils, but primarily select from the following: gentle baby, sleepyize, tummygize, peace & calming, & sniffleease (if she has the sniffles). It is important to note that I use young living kidscents which are specifically blended to be used on infants when combined with a carrier oil like jojoba (children over 2 years of age do not need the carrier oil).

I’m telling you this oil massage is everything, she smiles & coos & becomes so relaxed; as a parent it is incredible to see the joy & comfort in your child’s eyes!!  After her massage I put on a footie pajama and wrap her tightly in her halo swaddle. My husband & I refer to her as our little burrito!

Then it’s time to eat.  I typically wake Ava up if she falls asleep while eating once or twice to make sure she really fills her belly before bed!!  Then voila Ava goes into her snuggleme organic and sleeps for at least 9 hours!!  Ava uses her bibs pacifier and her sleep sheep probably 4 out of 7 nights.

  1. I saw the same jojoba oil online but for babies. Curious why aren't you using the baby one?

  2. So they are actually exactly the same because it is pure oil. I had written them with the same question when shopping for Ava, they said some people prefer products labeled as Baby but there is no difference besides the label.
